Go to peoplespharmacy.com. There's information about rinsing your hair with amber colored Listerine after you shampoo. I think dandruff is a bacteria and Listerine is an antiseptic... Hope it helps

Dandruff can come from a number of ways, the best thing to do is to keep your entire body clean (i know it is not physically possible, but it's always good to wash up when you can.) And if you know your hands are dirty touch your head as least as possible, but still it shouldn't be too big of a contributing factor.

Now from my personal experience, I had dandruff, and I used dandruff shampoo every time i showered, but it wasn't improving, eventually I found that constant use of dandruff shampoo was drying out my scalp. So if it doesn't improve try using it 2-3 times a week.

Finally if your head seems excessivly itchy, it could be lice. You said you were in the scouts, so camping and sleeping near other people could have given it too you, they are very contagious. I say this because lice lay their eggs in your hair. They are very small and take on the appearance of small dandruff flakes. As for the lice, they are small and black, and you wouldn't be able to see them yourself. To check for lice, have somone check for you, they seem to like behind the ears and on the hairline of your neck.

If this is the case lice shampoo can be bought at your local drug store for a very affordable price, so lice is very treatable. I hope you do not have lice, but it is best to always be well known of your surroundings. Just something to keep in mind if your dandruff doesn't imrove. So just use head and shoulders, if it doesn't improve, try going back to regular shampoo and use dandruff shampoo a few times a week. Than if the problem still presists look into lice shampoos.

Hmm... seems like head lice or eczema. If it was head lice you'd need to use some shampoo to kill it and its eggs. But its probably eczema, you should go to your doctor and see what it is just in case :)

Wash your facial hair with Head and Shoulders.
It's a type of brand name shampoo that reduces dandruff.
It's not expensive either you can get it at a drug store and walmart.

Whilst it's getting winter in Australia, Your dandruff will increase, my friend had the same problem, its a problem she has had from birth, we did some reaserch last winter.

We tried some dandruff shampoos. Some even made the dandruff worse! I had always heard you can use mayonnaise, but thought dandruff shampoos is much easier and better smelling :-) Finally I tried the mayonnaise and it worked!!
You wet the hair and towel dry it.
Then totally cover the scalp with mayonnaise. Massage it very well in every inch of your scalp. Not with your nails, do it with finger tips. Cover it with a plastic shopping bag and leave it for an hour or hour and a half. Then rinse it off, and wash your hair. You may want to shampoo twice and again, trying to take all that mayo smell out of your scalp.
It works great! Plus it's cheap!

Also, we found out that white vinegar also helps :)

Hope any of this works,
Cheers and goodluck! :)

You probably have psoriasis or some sort of skin condition that needs to be treated on your scalp.[go to the doc to get it checked out] It could be exacerbated by washing it so often.
I suggest using t-tree oil a few times a week and only washing your hair every 2nd day.

As for the itch in the meantime
- wash your hair with vinegar
- try to use non perfume products

ok
no more mary k or aspirin washes....sometimes mary k has alphahydroxy acid which will make it worse. aspirin will chemically burn your skin too. NO MORE!!!!!!

from now on you need to wash your body with dove. it is ph neutral. wash your hair with paulmitchell's tea tree shampoo and conditioner. use cetophil lotion. it is hypoallergenic and a good moisturizer.

also, buy some evening primrose oil gel tabs. this will help your skin. it is an excellent natural oil that the entire body uses for cell membrane production; especially skin cells and will act like a natural lotion for your skin. give it at least one month to see results.
