Hi everybody, in this video I show you how you can figure out what is causing you to have an itchy dry scalp, and if you have flakes, what those flakes mean. Dandruff, seborrhea, and psoriasis, can be extremely annoying and embarrassing, but the good news is they can all be treated. In this video I will give you tips on how you can treat and hopefully cure these scalp conditions. Dandruff shampoos can be drying to your hair, so I also offer some natural alternatives to using the over-the-counter medicated shampoos that are gentler. Things like Tea Tree Oil. . If you have long hair, you always want to be careful not to dry it out and since these conditions are conditions of the scalp, its best to protect your hair as much as possible. Ihope you found this video helpful. Please subscribe because I have so much more to come; something helpful and of interest to everyone. Thanks so much for viewing!
Dr. James L. Campbell Jr., MD discusses Seborrheic Dermatitis in Adults. See more at www.dermnet.com PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!! Seborrheic Dermatitis presents as moist, transparent to yellow, greasy scaling papules among red patches and plaques. Seborrheic Dermatitis usually favors areas where the concentration of sebaceous glands is maximal such as the scalp margins, central face and presternal areas, Characteristic locations are the eyebrows, the base of eyelashes, nasolabial folds and paranasal skin, and external ear canals. Scale adherent to the eyelashes and lid margins with variable amounts of erythema is characteristic of seborrheic blepharitis. Flexural skin may be similarly involved including the postauricular, inguinal, and inframammary folds as well as the anogenital area. Adults tends to have a chronic course with remissions and exacerbations. Flares are precipitated by stress, fatigue, and seasonal climate change.

Dr. Thomas P. Habif, MD discusses Perioral Dermatitis Information. See more at www.dermnet.com PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!! Perioral dermatitis is a distinctive eruption that occurs in young women and resembles acne. The eruption is confined to the nasolabial folds and spares a clear zone around the vermilion border. Papules and pustules on an erythematous base is the most common presentation. There are varying degrees of involvement. This patient has involvement of the entire perioral area. This patient presents with just a few papules. This limited eruption is the most common presentation. Scaling is seen in some cases. Scaling may occur as part of the disease or be induced by drying and irritating topical treatment. The chin is the most sensitive part of the face and does not tolerate drying therapy as well as the forehead and cheeks. Topical preparations such as benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin, and alcohol-based antibiotic lotions aggravate the eruption. Pustules on the cheeks adjacent to the nostrils are highly characteristic. Pustules next to the nose are sometimes the only manifestation of the disease. Pustules and papules may also be seen lateral to the eyes and sometimes this is the only manifestation of the disease. Patients with lateral eye involvement think they have acne, rosacea or contact dermatitis. The duration of perioral dermatitis is unpredictable. Some patients respond to oral antibiotics and never have another episode. Others have recurrent disease for …

Dr. James L. Campbell Jr., MD discusses Seborrheic Dermatitis Introduction. See more at www.dermnet.com PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!! Seborrheic dermatitis is a common, chronic, inflammatory disease. It has been proposed that Pityrosporum yeast is the cause. All ages can be affected though the clinical presentation among children differs from that of adults. For many patients, seborrheic dermatitis is primarily a cosmetic issue. Patients are bothered by facial redness or showers of dandruff on dark colored clothing. For some patients, seborrheic dermatitis is a manifestation of another underlying process. Seborrheic dermatitis has greater severity and is more difficult to control in patients with neurologic disease such as head trauma, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease or stroke. Patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection are often afflicted with severe recalcitrant flares.
